If you are a member of the Order of Ministry of the United Church of Canada (diaconal and ordained) not currently licensed to perform marriages in the Province of Ontario who has been called or appointed to a pastoral charge in one of the Presbyteries of Hamilton Conference please contact Hamilton Conference administration (sduliban@hamconf.org) to request an application package.  This package includes a letter of authorization from the Executive Secretary of Hamilton Conference and an application form from the Office of the Registrar General of Ontario.  You are required to complete the application and send it, along with the letter of authorization and a copy of your commissioning/ordination certificate or call/ appointment form, directly to the Office of the Registrar General in Thunder Bay.

Ministry Personnel Outside of Ontario or in Ontario with an Inactive Licence:

If you are United Church of Canada ministry personnel in good standing from outside Ontario or Ontario ministry personnel in good standing with an inactive licence and have been asked to perform a wedding within the bounds of Hamilton Conference, you may apply for a temporary, one-time licence to marry for that specific wedding.  Please contact Hamilton Conference administration (sduliban@hamconf.org) with the following information to request an application package:

  • Your name, address and ministry affiliation
  • Names of the couple being married
  • Date of the wedding
  • Location of the wedding (including address)
  • A letter of good standing from you present Conference.
