Greetings to all connected to communities of faith within Hamilton Conference from your Conference Nominations Committee,
“We are called to be the church: to celebrate God’s presence, to live with respect in Creation, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil” (excerpt from A New Creed).
“To embody God’s love in the world, the work of the church requires the ministry and discipleship of all believers” (excerpt from We Cannot Keep from Singing, A Statement of Faith of the United Church).
I believe the two excerpts above make a bold statement about our calling to be volunteers within the framework of our United Church. How might you answer this invitational calling?
Our list of opportunities to serve is part of the invitation to discern where you might meet our Conference needs and how that might match your own needs, gifts and time. Possibly it is time to explore new areas of serving. You might consider your passions for service and find a match. You might consider your gifts and your wisdom from life and church experience that you could contribute in a number of areas. We do want to hear from you.
If you do not see a place for you in the present list please let us know if there is another area of ministry where you feel called to volunteer. Should you know of someone whose gifts might be of benefit to any of these ministries, please let us know.
Thank you for your prayerful consideration.
E. Ann Fleming, Nominations Chair
